Hunter Valley Award Winning Wineries

Australia's oldest wine region.

The Hunter Valley, Australia’s oldest wine region, continues to cement its reputation as a powerhouse of exceptional winemaking, with our local vineyards consistently producing some of the country’s most celebrated wines. From robust Shiraz to elegant Semillon, let’s explore the stellar wines that make this region a must-visit destination for wine enthusiasts.

A Legacy of Excellence

The Hunter Valley’s winemaking heritage dates back to the 1820s, but it’s the region’s modern achievements that truly showcase its world-class status. The recently concluded 2024 Hunter Valley Wine Show highlighted the remarkable quality of local wines, with several wineries taking home prestigious awards that affirm the region’s standing in the global wine scene.

Semillon: The Hunter Valley’s Crown Jewel

The Hunter Valley’s Semillon is perhaps its most distinguished variety, and as been referred to as “Australia’s gift to the world of wine.” This unique white wine style has become synonymous with the region, known for its incredible ability to age gracefully while maintaining its crisp, citrusy characteristics. Local producers have mastered the art of creating Semillon that starts life with vibrant lemon-lime flavours and develops beautiful honey and toast characteristics with age.

The Diversity of Hunter Valley Wines

While Semillon might be the region’s calling card, the Hunter Valley excels in producing various other varieties:

🍇 Shiraz: Known for its medium-bodied style with elegant pepper and red fruit notes

🍇 Chardonnay: Showing beautiful citrus and stone fruit characters

🍇 Verdelho: Offering tropical fruit flavors with refreshing acidity

🍇 Cabernet Sauvignon: Producing structured wines with excellent aging potential
