January
Hunter Valley Gardens Christmas Lights Spectacular | Ending January 26, 2026
If you haven’t made it to the Christmas Lights Spectacular yet, you’ve got until January 26 to see what four and a half million lights look like when they take over Hunter Valley Gardens. The entire site transforms into themed light displays – think everything from giant baubles to illuminated tunnels – creating the kind of evening that actually lives up to the hype.
Beyond the lights, there are amusement rides keeping the kids entertained, roaming performers adding to the atmosphere, and plenty of food and drink stalls when you need a break. It’s become one of those must-do summer traditions for families across NSW, and with the New Year’s Eve fireworks still ahead, there’s still time to squeeze in a visit before it wraps up for another year.
Open nightly through to Australia Day.
Entwine Food Hub | Every Friday & Saturday (throughout the year)
Just a short stroll from Palmers Lane Estate, Calais Estate hosts the Entwine Food Hub every Friday and Saturday evening from 5:30pm.
This is the Hunter Valley’s answer to the question “where can we grab something casual for dinner?” Think elevated street food from rotating food trucks, local produce stalls, wine by the glass, and live music as the sun sets.
There’s no need to book- just wander between stalls, grab what looks good, and find a spot to settle in. When the weather turns, the air-conditioned barrel room offers a comfortable retreat. It’s the kind of low-key evening option that feels perfectly suited to a weekend away, especially when you can walk there and back without worrying about who’s driving.
February
Pokolbin Market | Every Sunday of 2026
Nestled among the vineyards at 691 Hermitage Road, the Pokolbin Markets have become a Sunday morning ritual for those who know where to find them. From 8am to 1pm, rain or shine, local makers, bakers, and growers set up shop beneath the market canopies.
You’ll find everything from handcrafted candles and jewellery to original artwork and timber pieces made by Hunter Valley artisans. Food lovers can stock up on preserves, relishes, and baked goods, while seasonal fruit and vegetables come straight from local farms.
The atmosphere is casual and welcoming. Acoustic musicians set the soundtrack, while kids bounce on jumping castles or get their faces painted. Coffee carts do a steady trade, and some stalls pour wines from nearby cellar doors, turning a simple market visit into a proper morning out.
It’s the kind of place where you come for fresh produce and leave with a handmade cutting board, a jar of fig jam, and plans to come back next Sunday.
Note, the Pokolbin Markets are held each Sunday, all year long.

The Australian World Orchestra is bringing their first-ever Hunter Valley performance to Brokenwood, and it’s shaping up to be one of those evenings you’ll still be talking about months later.
Musicians from the AWO will perform a carefully curated program in Brokenwood’s winery setting, with each piece paired to wines from the 2026 Halliday Winery of the Year. Between performances, Executive Chef Sean Townsend has designed a three-course menu (plus canapés) that showcases what’s seasonal and exceptional right now.
This isn’t your typical concert experience—it’s an evening where music, wine, and food genuinely work together rather than just appearing on the same ticket. The kind of night that reminds you why the Hunter Valley does special occasions better than anywhere else.
